  2. The Rocks is one area of Sydney I've visited a few times .. It's so full of history! I love this plaque and the building ... Hopefully it won't stand vacant for too long.

  3. Its a lovely old building, at one stage it was an arts and craft centre, you get some beautiful, handmade things there. Hopefully whoever goes in next will respect the building.

  4. Le Pain Quotidien are opening in this venue at the end of October 2013
The Old Police Station has had bare minimal changes made to the building itself, and Le Pain Quotidien are doing everything to preserve and respect the history of the building.
Open for Breakfast, Lunch and Diner- grab a cell mate and dine in one of the cells!

  5. Halloo, I used to manage the Gallery in there in 1980's Australian Craftworks - brilliant time to be in that location - we sold the V V best of Australian Made and Produced Art/Crafts and supplied many gifts to PM' premier, Gov Gen etc -plus Lots of tourists and best of all local Aussies from all over Oz. My son went to school at Lower Fort street and The Rocks was a village then - so safe for him and the other children of proprietors who lived over their shops. alas, now a MUCH bigger tourist venue; I have escaped to Tasmania where skyscrapers don't dominate the Hobart skyline and the Georgian City is still intact - just ....... nice to read the comments and remember those lovely times

    1. Yes ghosts aplenty, a small convict boy is often seen at the window, some say he is looking for his mother.

    2. I walked through near the cells there was a door at the back on the right with a metal sliding arch I guess something you opened to look into the room, the door was locked so I slide the bolt across and opened the hatch as I did I felt something hit my hair ,I was jumping around saying to my friends what's on me what's on my hair ,,but there was absolutely nothing they laughed at me but I knew what I felt and it was like something touching my hair ? Interesting ,
